Join us for an intergenerational, interfaith panel discussion about experiences of youth who arrive in the U.S. without parents on Wednesday, February 17 from 12 noon to 1 PM.

HIAS PA
Wins Asylum for Woman From Mali


HIAS and Council Senior Attorney Ayodele Gansallo, working with intern Janeth Mageni, represented a woman from Mali who had suffered Female Genital Mutilation, a procedure that affected her psychologically and had negative repercussions during childbirth. She can now stay in the U.S. and put the trauma of having undergone this painful procedure behind her.



Citizenship Class for the Elderly
Passes the Test


Raisa Davidovich, HIAS and Council's citizenship specialist, teaches the only citizenship class in the region geared to elder learners in collaboration with the JCC's Klein Branch. 13 students "graduated" in April and the current crop of 15 students are avid learners. All of the class members this semester passed the citizenship test and are proud of their achievements.
